Our Safety Commitment
Knife River has a commitment and obligation to provide a safe workplace for all employees. In addition, the traveling public, contractors and our clients working alongside Knife River deserve a safe environment.
More than a decade ago, Knife River began re-engineering the safety program, and in the last five years, front-line employee involvement has been the driving force behind a full safety culture change. Continuous Improvement Teams are involved in safety training, new programs and safety recognition.
Knife River has implemented an array of innovative programs and educational tools to maintain excellent safety performance. Some of the programs include fleet safety, strict drug and alcohol enforcement program, electrical safety, special driving courses for ready-mix personnel and workplace hazards training.
