Knife River – Cheyenne Division Awarded $46.1 Million WyDOT Project
BISMARCK, N.D. – Sept. 24, 2008 – Knife River Corporation’s Cheyenne Division was recently awarded a $46.1 million Wyoming Department of Transportation (WyDOT) project on Interstate 80 (I-80).
The I-80 Rock Springs - Rawlins Wamsutter West project is a reconstruction of approximately 12 miles of the interstate and includes all four lanes and new bridge structures. The project includes a combination of 425,700 tons of aggregate sub base and crushed base and a total of 224,950 tons of asphalt plant mix. Work is anticipated to begin Oct. 1, and is scheduled for completion by Nov. 30, 2010. The lanes will be finished in phases, with two lanes scheduled for 2009 and the remainder in 2010.
“This is an in-depth project that will require incredible resources and we intend to draw from Knife River employees throughout the company,” said Joe Stephenson, general manager for the Cheyenne Division. “Our number one consideration as we begin work on this project is safety for both our employees and the driving public.”
Knife River – Cheyenne Division and Knife River – Casper Division were also awarded four additional WyDOT contracts, totaling approximately $6 million.
