Knife River Corporation Names Brodock VP of Support Services
BISMARCK, N.D. – Dec. 19, 2008 - Knife River Corporation announced today that Mike Brodock has been named vice president of support services, succeeding Larry Duppong, who will retire Jan. 2 after 30 years of service with Knife River.
In June 2007, Brodock transferred to the corporate offices in Bismarck to become the director of support services, overseeing safety, environmental, engineering and leadership development, and assisting with the management of asset budgeting and utilization. He has a long career with Knife River, starting as the safety director in Billings in 1998. Brodock has a civil engineering technology degree from Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Wash., and a master’s degree in management from the University of Mary in Bismarck. He is a native of Belt, Mont.
“Knife River will miss Larry’s industry expertise and commitment to our business, however this is a strong example of how sound succession planning works,” said Bill Schneider, president and CEO of Knife River. “Mike has had time to learn from Larry and to prepare himself for this leadership role. He knows our industry, our employees and our customers very well. I have every confidence that he will do an excellent job in his new role and look forward to the future successes he will bring to the company.”
Duppong began his work at Knife River in 1978 at its Gascoyne Coal Mine operations near Scranton, N.D., as an assistant foreman. In 1985 he was transferred to Knife River’s coal mining operation near Beulah, N.D., and then moved to the corporate office in Bismarck in 1991, to become a senior vice president.
